Tenant Involvement in Day to Day Repairs

This one day training course is aimed at residents who have an interest in repairs and maintenance. It will help to clarify the law, finance, government guidance and what is good practice in repairs and maintenance.

  • The course will help you to understand what the landlord and tenant repairing responsibilities are.We w
  • ill look at what freeholders and leaseholders repairing responsibilities are and the legal consultation that is required.
  • We will Identify day to day repairs and look at the guidance from the Audit Commission and Housing Association.
  • We will compare the performance of different landlords on repairs and look at how the best repair services are organised.
  • We will identify ways that residents can influence landlords to improve the repair and maintenance service

Your trainer for the day will be Neal Purvis. Neal has worked in   housing for over 20 years with councils, housing associations, tenant management organisations and residents groups. While teaching housing he set up and managed one of the first Tenant Participation Certificate courses in England.  He has worked on a variety of small and large scale regeneration projects involving refurbishment, community development, decant, demolition and new build
